Eye Strain: Introduction

Asthenopia or eye strain is a common condition that can occur following tedious tasks involving your vision. Concentrating on tasks that are visually demanding leads to contraction of eye muscles which result in causing pain and discomfort from usage (or over use) of these eye muscles.

It is usually a mild condition and is temporary in nature. Eye strain is often caused when you concentrate with your eyes on an object for extended periods. This results in your eyes suffering from tiredness and fatigue.

What are the Eye Strain Symptoms?

When you experience discomfort in your eyes on staring or looking at something, you have eye strain. The symptoms can be experienced anywhere including at home or your work place.

It often happens that you are not totally aware of the factors that cause eye strain. It can be work related or result from bad viewing habits. Sometimes, we even fail to recognize the symptoms and often overlook the signs to be nothing but a minor impediment.
