A common condition, ear pain affects both, grownups and children. It often causes great discomfort which can interfere sometimes with one’s daily activities. Ear pain referred to medically as otalgia.

• Loss in hearing (temporary or permanent)

In some cases symptoms of ear pain such as itching that is persistent and severe can also occur. Ear pain symptoms can be very discomforting and painful at times. Other times, ear pain can also lead to fever or diarrhea.

A liquid discharge is among well known symptoms for ear pain. Sometimes an eardrum may suffer a break and become perforated releasing infected mucus buildup.

The ear discharges liquid for some time and the pain of earache gets relieved. Such eardrum perforations mend after a few weeks as the infection beats a retreat.
