Autism: Introduction

Autism is a developmental Symptom of autism makes child be in his own worlddisorder that appears very early in life. This disorder negatively affects your brain’s developmental process.

Children can suffer from deficits of varying levels associated to your communication skills, adaptability, social interactions and behavior.

What are the different Autism Symptoms?

Avoiding eye contact is the main characteristic for children with autism. Nonetheless, they may have a liking to gaze at twinkling or shiny objects but seem to avoid looking at people.

Further it is often noticed that they lack response to normal sounds even though very few are found to have any hearing problems. Some of the signs and symptoms of autism are listed below.

  • Absence of babbling or pointing up to age one year
  • Unable to utter single words by age sixteen months
  • Nonresponsive when called by name
  • Poor language and social skills
  • Avoiding eye contact
  • Absence of smile or proper responsiveness
  • Highly irritable
  • Activity level low up to six months age
  • Very obsessive
  • Low interaction
  • Avoid eye contact
  • Minimal facial expression
  • Regression (going back to previous place or state)
  • Like to remain alone
  • Do not respond to name
  • Toe-walk
  • Are hyperactive, avoid sitting in one place
  • Unable to follow objects visually
  • Upset if routine is broken

A child begins to display the first symptoms and signs of autism within the first two years of birth. Moreover some infants are born with autism.

Such a child may often avoid being cuddled or getting picked up. They also seem to be more withdrawn and like to remain alone and seldom make any noise that would attract attention.

For small children, the autism symptoms can be hard to identify. Signs of autism, if any, can be observed by the parents in the form of developmental delays such as if the child is not able to crawl or use basic words.

Additionally there may be no display of creativity while playing with toys as such children may usually line up the toys or spin the toy continuously.

As the cause for autism is not well defined nor clearly understood the disease remains incurable. Nonetheless, treatments exist and are limited to reducing the severity of associated autism signs and symptoms.
