Angina: Introduction

Angina is pain in your chestDoctor used stethoscope and graph paper to know about heart health condition due to restricted blood supply to your heart muscle. You can also experience angina as a tightness, squeezing, burning or pressure in your chest.

For some people it is hard to describe where the pain is exactly coming from. To some, angina pain feels as an indigestion problem.

What are the Angina Symptoms?

 

Shortness of breath is often experienced by older people during an angina attack. You suffer pain and discomfort as the main symptoms. This discomfort mostly occurs in your chest behind the breastbone.

Nonetheless, in elder people angina signs can often be overseen or mistaken for ailments like dizziness, weakness or confusion.

These symptoms of angina present themselves when your heart is deprived of adequate amount of oxygen. Such symptoms are often temporary and go away on their own.

Suffering extended chest pain left side of the body often brings fear of a heart attack and should only be checked by your doctor.

Some of the symptoms and signs for angina:

  • Sweating
  • Light headedness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Weakness

Moreover, you may also experience angina symptoms as pain in your neck, arms, shoulders, jaw or back.

While women are more prone to angina with chest pains to left side of the body, they also suffer from shortness of breath during an angina attack.

You may feel confused or overly worried on experiencing chest pains. This worry and confusion can be replaced by fear if you have chest pains on left side of your body.

This fear is normal as your heart is also located on the left side of your chest. Initial doubts about left side chest pain make you think about a heart attack. This confusion is not out of context as you are suffering some level of pain in your chest.
