Introduction

Hemorrhage means bleeding. It happens when you suffer loss of blood from your circulatory system.Brain Hemorrhage cause severe Internal Bleeding

You can suffer from internal bleeding from blood vessels inside your body known as internal hemorrhage. External bleeding (hemorrhage) can occur through your mouth, nose, ear, vagina or anus.

When you lose blood through minor hemorrhage such as small wounds, it is not considered dangerous. Such bleedings stop on their own without any medical aid. Nonetheless, you have lookout for any infections setting in at a later stage.

Bleeding disorder, medications and severe trauma are some of the causes of hemorrhage.

Internal bleeding (hemorrhage) can occur in arteries (blood vessel carrying blood from the heart to other parts of your body), veins (blood vessel or tubes carrying blood to the heart from various parts of your body) and capillaries (very small blood vessels or tubes between arteries and veins).

Brain hemorrhage is a serious type of internal bleeding. It can affect one part of your brain or one hemisphere of your brain (half of the brain).

Any individual suffering from head trauma should see a doctor immediately as symptoms can appear many hours after the injury.

Detecting such internal bleeding under medical supervision can save the life of an injured person, especially if it involves head trauma that can lead to cause brain hemorrhage.

You should seek immediate medical help as brain hemorrhage can prove fatal or can cause permanent brain damage if not treated promptly and properly.

Causes of Hemorrhage

You can suffer from any of the causes of hemorrhage including a low platelet count, severe trauma, bleeding disorder, a damaged blood vessel and anti-clotting medications.

In addition, there could be other underlying conditions including leukemia that can cause hemorrhage.

When taken in combination certain medications, drugs, toxins or substances can react causing hemorrhage symptoms.

Hemorrhage can be caused inside or outside of your body. Hemorrhages occurring outside of your body are very easy to diagnose including a traumatic injury caused as a result of an automobile accident.

However, those hemorrhages occurring inside your body are difficult to diagnose. Internal bleeding or hemorrhages occur in your body tissue, body organs, head and abdomen. Internal hemorrhages are caused due to sudden injury to any part of your body.

Hemorrhage Symptoms

Symptoms of hemorrhage depend on which part of your body the bleeding has occurred.

You will always experience some sort of hemorrhage symptoms no matter where the bleeding is taking place in your body.

A hemorrhage in your skull can display symptoms including dizziness, desire to sleep and confusion.

Abdominal hemorrhages are characterized by vomiting blood or through tightness of stomach muscles.

Hemorrhage in the muscle can cause build up of blood within the muscle tissue. This can starve the muscle cells of blood nutrients which can result in difficulty in controlling or moving the muscles. You may also experience sharp pains inside of the muscles.

In addition you can also have difficulty performing simple tasks such as speaking, reading or tying your shoe laces.

You can experience familiar hemorrhage symptoms when there is internal bleeding in the joints.

Hemorrhage Treatments

Treatments differ according to the type of hemorrhage. These include methods and techniques of applying direct pressure, use of pressure points, applying splinters, surgery and elevation.

Moreover, these hemorrhage treatments can be used individually or in combinations to achieve effective control of the hemorrhage.

For external bleeding, hemorrhage treatments can include:

  • Applying direct pressure on the wound
  • Applying pressure on the he artery or vein
  • Raising or elevating the bleeding part or limb
  • Applying cold water or cold compresses
  • Applying splinters

Direct pressure means applying pressure to the bleeding external wound. Using pressure points, a direct pressure is applied over the affected artery to restrict as much bleeding as possible.

Internal bleeding requires some hemorrhage treatments:

  • Lay down the patient
  • Applying injections with strong medication
  • Immediate medical treatment
  • Hospitalization on an emergency basis

Applying cold compresses or cold water often restricts bleeding and is a time tested technique. But it should be combined with other hemorrhage treatments.

Internal hemorrhage needs immediate medical treatment and can involve hospitalization for severe cases such as brain hemorrhage.
