What is Autism?

Autism is categorized as a mental Autism symptoms vary greatly in every affected persondevelopment disorder in an individual. Appearance of this particular disorder is difficulty in interacting with people, unable to communicate normally as others do and problems with behavior.

Researchers suggest that autism is not a single condition but is a set of various other problems that comes along with the symptoms. Males are at high risk developing autism in comparison to females.

Major four different types of autism are classified as such classic autism, Asperger’s syndrome, Rett syndrome and childhood disintegrative disorder. Classic type of autism is the most severe.

Classic autism in children show symptoms like lack of concentration, emotionless, muteness, difficulty in learning, speaking and memorizing. Children with Asperger’s syndrome exhibit no sensitivity towards loud noise or sound.

Symptoms in children are very hard to deal with. Extensive research in treatment for autism has helped improve living standards of children and adults with the disease.

The symptoms among children are more prominent than in adults. These include difficulty in learning or oral communication. Autistic children resist from making eye contact with anyone and seldom speak to others.

These kids seem to be in their own virtual world all the time without any feeling. Their life is without activity, smile and emotions. Parents are advised to seek professional help if they visualize any such symptoms in their children.

Causes of Autism

Experts have not yet defined exact causes of autism but it is believed that genetics play an important role in the development of this disorder. Environment is another factor responsible for autism.

Various autism causes believed to be factors like emotional trauma; poor parenting skills, unhygienic conditions etc. are not true as many studies have unproved them.

Occupational hazards or exposure to poisonous industrial emissions can become possible reason for autism in adults.

Another factor among its causes is metabolic discrepancy. In addition, some severe health issues have also been attributed to causes of autism.

Symptoms of Autism

Visible symptoms are detected since childhood itself. Autistic patients ignore their surrounding environment like people, places, things etc. they deem happenings around them to be immaterial.

These individuals cut off communication with others - they like to stay lonely and isolated. They create an imaginative world around themselves. If called, they don’t even respond to their names. These patients are very sensitive to strong smell or loud noises.

When an individual does not respond to normal activity like laughing, crying or talking then he or she has possibly developed autism symptoms.

Treatment for Autism

Autism treatments involve various aspects like diet, exercise, counseling, monitoring health conditions along with other autism medication.

Parents are required to promote skill development techniques related to language and communication when they discover autism in children. Also, behavioral therapies can be scheduled on a regular basis.

Certain educational programs that enhance slow progress of mental development can be followed. These are the areas where autism research has shown good results so far. Although there is no perfect treatment for autism, these therapies can be used by autistic patients.
