Acne

Acne known as “acne vulgaris”Acne Vulgaris is a regular skin disorder is a regular skin disorder affecting all age group. Our skin has pores that contain oil glands providing lubrication to skin. Acne occurs because of excess secretion of sebaceous glands present under the skin.

Black heads, pimples and even scars are different means through which acne takes place, but they easily heal with over-the-counter acne medications. It is advisable to contact your doctor if these medications don’t work.

Causes of Acne

The excess secretion of sebaceous glands that are present under the skin pigments clogs the skin pores by toxic oily substances and creates inflammation and infection. Hormonal changes with increasing age can be one of the possible acne causes.

In certain cases, genetic factors play an important role, causing acne problems. Irregular and unhealthy diet, regular intake of fatty food, and severe constipation problem are some common causes of acne.

Other causes for acne include usage of expired cosmetics, oily makeup, steroids and specific medications that can result in acne and other chronic skin problems such as rashes and sore skin. Stress can be one of the causative factors too.

Symptoms of Acne

Skin of the body parts such as face, arms, chest and neck are more prone to develop symptoms regardless of gender, color, skin type and age group.

Oily or greasy skin surface, yellow spot with pus and blood discharge can turn into scar and are some of the typical acne symptoms.

Types of Acne

There are two acne types, non-inflammatory and inflammatory. Blackheads and white heads are two well known non-inflammatory types, found in both male and female, especially in peoples with oily skin.

Papule, pustules and cyst are distinguished as inflammatory types of acne. These types are severe, influenced by bacteria or virus causing redness, swelling and bumps in affected area. Being viral in nature, they spread rapidly from one part to the other.

Severe facial acne seen only in women also known as pimple is a classified acne type. The non-inflammatory types can be easily treated compared to the other one.

Treatment for Acne

Excellent body hygiene along with a healthy surrounding environment is an easy acne treatment. Develop a habit to wash your face with saline water after dusty or moist situations.

Drink average ten to twelve full glasses of water per day to detoxify the body from dirt, bacteria and other toxic substances. This is the easiest treatment of acne that has no side effects.

Anti-inflammatory and antibiotic medications are often prescribed in bacterial or viral cases of acne, but only under medical supervision. Treatment for acne includes preventive measures such as stay away from scratching or squeezing the pimples as this can push the pus deep into the skin pores.
