Introduction

Bipolar disorder is stated as a dreadful psychiatric brain illness which involves constant swings in a symptoms of bipolar disordersperson’s mood often called as mood disorder. No exact treatments for bipolar disorder have been discovered yet as it is treated to be hereditary, where genetic tendency influences this disorder at large.  Patient dealing with mania and depression often cultivates suicidal tendency due to lack of information on bipolar disorder, in these cases bipolar disorder medications help them to regain normal life.

Causes of Bipolar Disorder

 

The Causes of bipolar disorder is believed to be the improper functioning of neurological system in brain where inadequate release of hormones and chemicals in brain influences this disorder which generates because of stress. An unexpected event in one's life leads him/her to anxiety, substance abuse, long term illness and inadequate sleep which are the ultimate causes of bipolar disorder.

Symptoms of Bipolar Disorders

Patient who counters symptoms of bipolar disorders can be categorized in two main phases namely manic and depressive. A manic phase patient shows frequent mood changes due to high physical and mental energy levels; these patients involve themselves in high risk situations believing that whatever they do is right, immaterial of what is wrong. A depressive phase patient develops symptoms of bipolar disorders by withdrawing himself from society and activities of interest, which leads him to addiction resulting in sadness, loss of appetite and physical illness. Patients in the depressive phase are more likely to execute suicidal attempts rather than those in the manic phase.

Types of Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar I, Bipolar II, Hypomania, and Cyclothymia are prominent types of bipolar disorder whereas rapid-cycling is stated as sub type of the same. Bipolar I causes manic incident for longer periods, once in life time disturbing victim’s personal and professional life, demanding the patient to be hospitalized. Bipolar II causes more than one depression incident along with hypomanic episode and the depressive stage last for days, weeks or months. Hypomania is mild in nature making the patient feel above the world due to hyper creativity while it makes other people quite uncomfortable around him/her. Cyclothymia shows multiple incidents of mild depression, lasting for two months or upto two years developing other three types of bipolar disorder gradually.

Treatments for Bipolar Disorder

Information on bipolar disorder is first step toward curing it and taking consistent treatments for bipolar disorder is another. Apart from psychiatric treatment or therapy patients should focus on controlling negative thoughts which are the root cause of this disorder. Patients diagnosed with bipolar disorder should cultivate a healthy lifestyle for living; also learn to manage stress in day to day life by engaging friends and family members to build a strong support center. Not just medicines, but Bipolar disorder medications is a combination of various therapies, support system, information and regular monitoring over thyself.
